The Accountant II position involves supporting cash reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation while collaborating with various teams within the organization.ResponsibilitiesPrepare certain cash, cash clearing, and suspense journal entries and account reconciliations (monthly and daily) including complex accounts which require heavy collaboration with business partners across the organization to identify, research, and correct discrepanciesPrepare journal entries, internal reporting, and reconciliations associated with enterprise functions and consolidation-adjacent processesSupport the preparation of the quarterly and year-end financial statements (10-Q/10-K) and regulatory reportsIdentify and implement improvements and automation opportunities in areas of responsibilityCoordinate with several groups across the enterprise in gathering all the necessary materialsAssist in analytical accounting support to the internal business partnersAssists in the resolution of accounting problems through the appropriate channelsManage and improve the processes around the assigned accounting activitiesDrive audit compliance within the areas for which you are responsibleContribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focusSkills1+ years of relevant experienceBachelor's Degree in relevant field(s) of study or equivalentBachelor's degree in Accounting major or equivalent1+ years previous work experience in Accounting including experience preparing cash and other account reconciliations and with preparing and posting journal entriesAdvanced MS Excel skills (Power Query, pivot tables, x-lookups, etc.)Workday (including OfficeConnect) experienceCPA (or equivalent) is preferred (or working toward CPA or equivalent license)Possess general technical accounting skillsExhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivationMust possess good oral and written communication skillsAbility to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to managementAbility to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasksAbility to contribute meaningfully to projectsComfortable interacting with other personnel in groups or from other departments; may interact with other internal and external personnel on specific projects or routine matters, usually under supervisionBenefitsTime Away: Program starts at 20 paid time off days in addition to 11 paid holidays and 8 hours of volunteer time off yearlyPlanning for the Future: plan for the near and long term with an industry-leading 401K retirement savings plan with matching and company contributions, student loan pay downs and 529 educational save up assistance programs, tuition reimbursement, employee stock purchase plan, and financial learning center and financial coach access.Supporting your Health & Well-being: flexible health and insurance options including medical, dental and vision, employee, spouse and child life insurance, short- and long-term disability, pre-tax Health Savings Account with employer contributions, Healthcare FSA, critical illness, accident & hospital indemnity insurance, and a total well-being program that helps you and your family stay on track physically, socially, emotionally, and financially.Building a Family: adoption, surrogacy and fertility assistance as well as paid parental and caregiver leave, Dependent Day Care FSA back-up child and adult/elder care days and childcare discounts.Work-Life Integration: other benefits including Mentally Fit Employee Assistance Program, subsidized and discounted Weight Watchers® program and other employee discount programs.Other compensations: depending on the role for which you are considered, you may be eligible for travel allowances, relocation assistance, a signing bonus and/or equity.Company OverviewAlly Financial Inc.
