Accountant I for Miner Mall and Non PO

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is a comprehensive public research university that is increasing access to excellent higher education. They are seeking an Accountant I to ensure the accurate handling of financial transactions, including reviewing and processing payment requests, and monitoring compliance with accounting principles. Responsibilities Reviews and approves PO related payment requests to ensure activity and documentation comply with University policy and procedures Serves as a primary point-of-contact for campus departments and outside vendors on PO related payment inquiries Reconciles vendor statements and research invoice status to ensure timely and accurate payments Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in payment transactions Helps evaluate current processes, identify areas of opportunities, and provide input on ways to improve the operation Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and University policy and procedures Assists with various special projects as needed Reviews non-PO payment requests to ensure activity and documentation comply with University policy and procedures Research, reviews, and reconciles non-PO transactions, invoices, reports and vendor statements to help process timely and accurate vendor payments Reviews vendor profiles and voucher payments for proper 1099 reporting and assists with 1099 and other IRS tax-related processes Serves as a primary point-of-contact for campus departments on non-PO inquiries Investigates and corrects errors in payment transactions.
