Hotel Equities is a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company seeking a remarkable Accountant for their Canada Corporate Office in Edmonton, AB. The Accountant will be responsible for centralized accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in property-level accounting activities and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.ResponsibilitiesReview property-level accounting activities (A/P, A/R, general cashier, and daily reporting) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policiesAudit daily cash reports and reconciliations prepared by the property, ensuring deposits and balances are properly recordedMonitor and review vendor activity, including reconciliation of key accounts and investigation of discrepanciesEnsure all recurring and outstanding invoices are recorded by the property and reflected accurately in the financialsPost monthly brand reimbursements and other corporate-level entriesPerform full month-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules in accordance with financial deadlinesConduct variance analysis and investigate significant fluctuations in financial resultsSupport year-end close processes and external audits, including preparation of required documentation and responding to audit inquiriesPartner with hotel operations teams and ownership groups to ensure financial accuracy and provide guidance on accounting mattersIdentify process gaps and drive improvements to enhance consistency, accuracy, and timeliness across propertiesSkillsAccounting diploma or equivalent requiredStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with hotel operations teams, ownership groups, and internal stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, documenting processes, and responding to inquiriesSolid problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutionsAbility to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to work extended hours as needed, particularly during month-end and year-end close, or for urgent projectsBenefitsTeam Driven and Values Based CultureMedical/Dental/VisionVacation & Holiday PaySame-day pay availableEmployee Assistance ProgramCareer Growth Opportunities/ Manager Training ProgramReduced Room Rates throughout the portfolioThird Party Perks (Movie Tickets, Attractions, Other)RSP with Company matchEmployee discountLife insuranceParental leaveReferral programCompany OverviewHotel Equities is one of the top hotel development and management companies.
