Urban Flood Safety & Water Quality District is seeking an Accountant to support the financial operations that help safeguard the region through levee and flood control management. The role involves essential accounting functions such as accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support, while collaborating with a dedicated team to ensure accurate financial records. Responsibilities Prepare and post Journal entries Track, reconcile and account for Fixed Assets Prepare and analyze Financial Statements Analyze Budget to actual results Support preparation for annual audit Process and post Accounts Receivable deposits Analyze A/R Aging report Process invoices Maintain cash balances in disbursement accounts Reconcile Bank accounts Review Payroll and complete General Ledger Posting Reconcile Retirement Accounts (ex. PERS, Oregon Savings Plan) Review Federal and State taxes reporting and reconcile payroll taxes (monthly, quarterly and annual) Perform other duties as assigned Strive to achieve the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization Apply an equity lens to your work to ensure barriers to participation are removed for all Comply with public records requirements and other District policies Perform the duties assigned during an emergency Complete required Incident Command System training within a planned timeframe of hire, to be specified by the District Remain within a 10-hour response time during the District’s Partial Emergency Activation or as specified by the Executive Director Work well with community and be a strong ambassador for the District Exemplify the workplace safety culture Create a culture that promotes respect, inclusion, and equity for the diversity of all people in our workforce and community Participate in the development, monitoring, and management of the division’s budget and related business function expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational priorities Skills Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent experience High school diploma or GED and up to 3 years' directly related experience for Accountant, Entry High school diploma or GED and 3-5 years' directly related experience for Accountant, Journey Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Adobe, and Word Knowledge of Accounting Software Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting for government entities Knowledge of government budgets Knowledge of BOLI requirements Knowledge of laws and policies related to managing personnel Ability to effectively organize and prioritize Ability to work collaboratively with staff and other stakeholders Ability to learn quickly, collaborate effectively, and adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment Ability to create a positive work environment Company Overview The mission of the UFSWQD is to equitably reduce flood risk and prepare for and respond to flood emergencies by maintaining levees, conveying water when necessary, and finding innovative and nature-based ways to live with more water around us while supporting community safety and the region’s economic vitality, contributing to the health of the river and watershed, planning for a more climate-resilient future, and promoting equity in all we do.
