The University of Houston is hiring an Academic Advisor 2 for the College of the Arts. The role involves advising enrolled and prospective students on academic programs, admission, retention, degree planning, and coordinating entry-level advisors, while supporting student success through proactive, data-informed advising and collaboration with faculty and campus partners.

Highlights
• Advise students on academic programs, degree plans, and university policies.
• Analyze and process graduation applications, grade changes, petitions, and readmission requests.
• Coordinate work of entry-level academic advisors and assist with student orientations and recruitment events.
• Utilize student data systems to implement data-driven advising strategies to improve retention and graduation.
• Interpret and apply academic policies, including handling academic probation, suspension, and dismissal.
• Work closely with undergraduate Graphic Design BFA and graduate Arts Leadership MA students and faculty.
• Requires thorough knowledge in related disciplines typically obtained by a 4-year degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with high-achieving students and competitive admission programs is preferred.
• Salary range: $43,000 - $50,000.
• Professional development and college time release supported; criminal background check required.
