About the position

The 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District is responsible for providing students with effective learning experiences through distance, virtual, or face-to-face instruction. The role aims to foster students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while enabling them to develop essential competencies and skills for success in society. The teacher will implement lesson plans, assess student learning, and maintain a conducive classroom environment.

Responsibilities
• Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through various learning modalities.

• Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles and needs.

• Present subject matter according to established guidelines and regulations.

• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials.

• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and adjust instructional activities accordingly.

• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students.

• Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.

• Supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.

• Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.

• Help students improve study methods and habits through ongoing assessment.

• Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and be a positive role model.

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage student behavior effectively.

• Communicate with students and parents through various platforms and maintain an ongoing contact log.

• Participate in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.

• Knowledge of subjects assigned and general curriculum and instruction.

• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively.

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
