This local 3rd shift opportunity will be based in Newark, DE. The driver will be shuttling pre-loaded doubles trailers to Carlisle, PA, Drop and Hook and back to Newark twice a shift. This position requires a wide range of skills including practicing safe driving and delivery. • This will be a Monday - Friday position • Dedicated Andersen Freight • Hourly Pay + Incentives! • Eligible for Overtime over 40 hours PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Acclimate to the layout of the facility and learn recall of trailer locations • Drive truck to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speed in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver logs, possible fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle • Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: • Doubles Endorsement • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License • An acceptable accident and moving violation history within Motor Vehicle Record • A minimum of 2 years of previous tractor-trailer driving experience, including winter driving • Effective communication skills • Basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics • Ability to follow directions via on-board computer system and by phone • Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems • Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, vehicle inspection and maintenance • Meet the medical standards of the DOT including satisfactorily passing a DOT drug screen PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY: • Able to sit and remain alert while driving for extended periods of time • Able to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals • Able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel lever, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, fuel vehicles and check engine oil coolant levels COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process.
