M&T Bank is a community-focused financial institution seeking candidates for their Management Development Program in Credit Risk Management. This program includes ten weeks of core training followed by a year of on-the-job training, where participants will engage in portfolio analytics and work on group projects while gaining insights into C&I loans and banking operations.ResponsibilitiesOversee assigned coverage within the C&I Credit Risk Analytics team. Monitor performance of loan portfolio credit quality and quantify business ramifications where possible. Investigate any incident that may result in losses and compile findings for Management reviewConduct portfolio analysis using industry, origination, financial, behavioral, market, and economic data as appropriate. Obtain data from disparate sources, link information, check data integrity, and perform exploratory analysis. Leverage industry information and contacts to support analysis through trend comparisonPartner with teams within both the First and Second Lines of defense to discuss current portfolio tracking and business observations. Participate in cross-functional key activities, such as the semi-annual Capital Planning and quarterly Allowance processesPerform special projects as requested by managementDevelop Knowledge around various Banking Regulatory requirementsAdhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policiesPromote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brandMaintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicableComplete other related duties as assignedParticipate in and complete a one-year long, non-rotational training program while creating and adding value to assigned department. Receive job specific training, general training in banking, communication and leadership, and personalized coaching and feedback. Performance measures may include several objective test scores, peer and sponsor feedback from group projects, facilitator feedback, Leadership Development Manager-MDP feedback, Department Manager feedback, final assessment score, and year-end performance appraisal from Department Manager and Leadership Development Manager-MDPCore Training - Participate in ten weeks of training throughout the one-year assignment to learn banking, basic financial skills, technical skills, and leadership/interpersonal skills. Develop a solid understanding of banking functions, processes, and operationsGroup Projects - Participate in two group project assignments, working with a team of their peers to build relationships within their teams as well as with project sponsors, internal and external contacts, and senior management. Teams make a presentation to senior management at the conclusion of each project providing recommendations and potential project solutionsOn-the-Job Training - The fundamental skills taught in core training are combined with On-the-Job training based on the incumbent's assignment. Job specific training teaches departmental policies, procedures, systems, and products.
